Beauty entrepreneur Dabota Lawson has responded to allegations that she has an “obvious admiration” for the Olu of Warri, who is married with children.
The controversy is part of the ongoing social media clash between Dabota and Adeola Diiadem, who were formerly friends and both own beauty brands.
The former friends have been exchanging allegations and revealing details about their past relationship, with claims involving alleged relationships with married men, pregnancy and other personal matters.
In one of her posts, Diiadem questioned Dabota over her alleged admiration for the monarch.
“Or should we discuss how you were involved with your supposed friend’s sister’s husband?
“Saint? Please!
“Or should we talk about your obvious admiration for Olori Atuwatse’s husband? Someone you couldn’t stop gushing about? LOL,” Diiadem wrote.
Following the post, some Nigerians criticised Dabota and urged her to stay away from the married Olu of Warri.
Responding to one of the comments, Dabota dismissed the criticism, arguing that admiring prominent or successful men does not necessarily mean there is a romantic interest.
“I didn’t know that admiring great men was suddenly a bad thing. As Christians, don’t women pray for their Boaz? And don’t people openly have harmless celebrity crushes?” she wrote.
Her response has sparked further reactions online as the public fallout between the two former friends continues.
